Tin Can Lanterns

 

Pretty any time of year!

I am using these in my center pieces for my wedding! You can customize them anyway you want. Colors, patterns, and size!

Items needed:

• Mini cans - you can use mushroom, condensed milk, or manderain orange cans
• Thin wire - I used beading craft wire
• Hammer
• Medium sized nail
• Spray paint

Directions: 

1. Fill tin can with water and place in freezer for 2 hours or until frozen solid
2. Place tin can on towel (make sure to hammer on carpet so you don't hurt wood floors or tile)
3. Use a hammer and nail to pound a pattern into your tin can. It should punch through easily.
4. *REMEMBER* to punch two holes across from each other at the top of the can for the wire
5. Run hot water into can until ice melts out. Let can dry after.
6. Take outside and spray paint whatever color you want!
7. When dry (3 - 4 hours) string wire through top of can and twist until secure ontop
8. Use an electric tea light inside and set or hang to get a twinkly effect!

All the supplies you will need

Fill can with water and freeze. That's the only way to punch the holes through.

Snowflake Garland

Easy project made from paper snowflakes!

This would look nice on your fireplace mantel from paper snowflakes you or your kids have made!

Items needed:

• 10 - 15 paper snowflakes that you have already cut out
• Twine or curling ribbon - Ribbon  from the Dollar Store 1.00$
• Scissors
• Tape to hang garland
• Hole punch

Directions: 

1. After cutting out your snowflakes, lay them all out in order that you want them
2. Start winding the twine through the snowflakes making little knots to hold them in place (If they don't have holes in the middle from the design you can use a hole punch to make one.
3. Space the snowflakes out having a few inches in between each one
4. Once satisfied with the length and amount of snowflakes you can hang it above your fireplace
5. Use a small amount of tape to hold the garland up on the ends
6. Stand back and view your creation!

• White Printer Paper
• Scissors
• Printer

For an extra touch: string the snowflakes on some twine to make a quick garland!

Directions:

1. Download the template for the snowflakes
2. Print out the snowflakes onto regular paper
3. Follow the instructions below to cut out your snow flake!
4. *Extra* Don't waste the paper at the bottom on the template! At the bottom there is another template to cut out a few gift tags to use on Christmas gifts!

DIY Dollar Store Snow Globes

Christmas is coming!

This is a quick, cheap, and easy project that will spruce up any centerpiece, fireplace mantel, or other Christmas/Winter displays!

Check your local Dollar Tree for most of the supplies needed for this project!

Items needed:

• 2 medium mason jars - 1.00$ each from the Dollar Tree
• 1 set of fake evergreen trees (comes with 2 in a pack) - 1.00$ from the Dollar Store
• 1 can of instant snow (the cans may depend on your area but the spray works the same) - 1.00$ from the dollar store
• Festive ribbon - can use Christmas colors or winter themed
• Glue gun and extra glue sticks
• Water!
• *Optional* a pinch of glitter - I used silver
• *Optional* a dash of blue food coloring to give it an extra winter feel (if you don't have food coloring you can substitute it with a spot of blue sugar sprinkles mixed with water

 

Directions:

1. Open the package of trees and run them under water to make sure the extra green comes off and not in your snow globe
2. *Optional*  before gluing trees down you can add a touch of sparkle to the tree by gluing glitter to a few random branches
3. Glue trees to bottom of the inside of the lid of your mason jar
4. Open your can of snow. Follow directions to make snow
5. Add a few scoops of fake snow to jar and sprinkle your glitter into jar
6. Fill jar to brim with water and add a touch of blue food coloring here
7. Put tree in upside down and screw the lid on very tight
8. Add some ribbon around the bottom to create a base
9. Shake your snow globe and watch the snow fly!

Snowman Poop Project

The first of many projects! 

This is an easy and quick project that would be good for stocking stuffers, white elephant gifts for Christmas, funny things to hand around the office, or something to give your loved one :)
